Your outstanding dental care begins the moment you walk through the door at Thornbury Family Dental.

You’ll be greeted by our friendly, warm receptionist and have some time to relax in our cutting-edge, comfortable environment. The surgery has been architecturally designed complete with modern glass walls that give an open, inviting feel.

You’re welcome to watch television, read the available books or magazines or take a moment to disconnect, relax whilst enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the background music before being seen promptly by your dentist.

Your Initial Appointment

We value your trust in our team. If it is your first time visiting us, please bring any medical history information with you, along with a list of medications, if applicable.

Free Kids Dental

To help you provide the best dental care for your children, Thornbury Family Dental offers no gap treatment under the government’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). The government health initiative provides access to benefits for basic dental services to children aged 2-17, including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions.

What to Expect

At Thornbury Family Dental, we believe in comprehensive care and maintenance of total oral well-being. Our comprehensive new patient examination is a one hour session where the dentist and staff will gather all the necessary information to create a strategic blueprint of what we can do to help you. This extra time is to allow our whole team to work together with you to achieve your ultimate dental goals, and at no extra cost to the usual check-up fees. We’ll begin with photos of your mouth and teeth, any needed X-rays, a thorough examination of your gums, teeth, and soft tissues including an oral cancer check. Together, we will be able to form an individualised plan to restore and/or maintain your smile. Our dentists will discuss and present the plan thoroughly with you to make sure it meets your needs and expectations. Please note that in order for us to provide each and every one of our patients with the most thorough care plan, we do not unusually carry out treatments in our initial comprehensive check-up appointment, including a scale & clean.

Sometimes, we may invite you back for a consultation depending on the complexity of your goals. This session will be of no extra charge to you and it will be for you to ask any further questions and to fully understand your treatment plan and options. You are more than welcome to bring in any family members whom may assist you in better understanding your options.

Our primary focus is comprehensive care. However, we understand that if you have any immediate issues, we will make it our top priority to address them. We will work together to help you to have a better understanding about why the issue may have arisen, and together, we will endeavour to guide you on how you can prevent future concerns by implementing an individualised plan.

Your dentist will be happy to walk you through each step before proceeding with any treatment. Or, if you would prefer, you can simply cast your attention to the television placed in the ceiling above.
